Elementary School Programs

JA's elementary classroom programs offer integrated and sequential activities giving K-6th graders an authentic look at business and economic concepts, career exploration and workforce skills.

Ourselves® explains personal economics through a collection of short stories read aloud by the volunteer.

Our Families® emphasizes the roles people play in the local economy as well as how they work together to make the place they live a good place.

Our Community® explores the interdependent roles of workers in a community and how communities work.

Our City® studies careers, the skills people need to work in those careers, and how businesses contribute to a city.

Our Region® introduces the relationship between the natural, human, and capital resources found in different regions and explores regional businesses that produce goods and services for consumers.

Our Nation® examines how businesses operate in the United States and explores various economic issues that impact those businesses.

JA Dollars and Sense® teaches students about earning, sharing, saving and spending money.

Middle Grade Programs

JA's Middle Grade Programs examine a wide variety of important concepts:  why it is essential to stay in school, how businesses operate in a free enterprise system, exploration of diverse career options, mastery of workforce skills and personal financial management.

JA America Works® provides students with examples of how business and entrepreneurship affected the economic development of the United States during the 19th century.

JA Economics for Success® explores personal finance and students’ education and career options based on their skills, interests, and values. JA Economics for Success is a series of six activities recommended for students in grades six, seven, and eight.

JA It's My Business® encompasses entrepreneurship curriculum for students in grades six, seven, and eight. The program emphasizes entrepreneurship while providing a strong focus on social studies, reading, and writing skills.

JA Global Marketplace® is designed to provide practical information about the key aspects of the global economy, what makes world trade work, and how trade affects students’ daily lives.

High School

JA High School Programs encompass the operation of a real business to learning micro-economics to make economic concepts relevant, fuel the entrepreneurial spirit and challenge students to excel.

JA Success Skills® (10th-12th) develops students' interpersonal effectiveness and problem-solving skills necessary for the workplace.

JA Banks in Action® provides students with the challenge of operating a bank in a competitive environment that simulates the real banking world.  Students participate in a hands-on approach to strategic decision making.

JA Titan School Edition® introduces critical economics and management decisions through an interactive Web-based simulation.

JA Economics® (11th & 12th) examines the fundamental concepts of micro-, macro-, and international economics.

JA Business Ethics® is designed to foster ethical decision-making in students as they prepare to enter the workforce. Students learn to recognize, analyze, and apply basic terminology, theories, and concepts common to the study of ethics. They explore their own ethical values and philosophy, establish ethical priorities, recognize key ethical issues, and learn to evaluate their decision-making process.

JA Careers with a Purpose® includes seven program sessions and strongly encourages students to complete the skills, interests, and values career assessments available at www.ja.org. The program also invites students to compete in the Laws of Life essay contest.

JA Personal Finance® provides students with an understanding of financial literacy necessary to make informed financial decisions. Focuses on income, money management, spending and credit, savings and investment and risk management.

JA Exploring Economics seeks to foster life-long skills and knowledge about how the economy works, including micro-, macro-, personal, and international economies. Concepts explored through the program include supply and demand, personal finance, government involvement in the economy, inflation rates, and the globalization of trade. The JA Exploring Economics program is designed to supplement a school’s economics curriculum through hands-on classroom activities

JA Groundhog Job Shadow Day

Groundhog Job Shadow Day takes students into the workplace to learn about careers. Would you rather tell students about the workplace or show them? We introduce students to careers through one-day, on-site orientations or through more extensive internships. Either way, it’s an authentic work-world experience for the students … enhanced with classroom preparatory and follow-up activities. JA Job Shadow takes students into the workplace to learn about careers.  Learn more!

JA Company Program®

Classroom photoWith the support and guidance of volunteers from the local business community, the JA Company Program provides basic economic education for high school students. By organizing and operating an actual business enterprise, students not only learn how businesses function, they also learn about the structure of the U.S. free enterprise system and the benefits it provides.
